The Lancaster Plastic Surgery Society was founded to give board-certified plastic surgeons in our community a focused place to learn from one another and to uphold the standards that define our specialty.
Membership is limited to diplomates of the American Board of Plastic Surgery who practice in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. That requirement is intentional. The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Certification reflects accredited training, rigorous examination, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Why a local society
Plastic and reconstructive surgery is both a technical and a judgment-driven discipline. Case discussion, journal review, and honest collegial exchange make us better surgeons and better consultants for the patients who rely on us. A local society makes that exchange regular, personal, and grounded in the realities of practice in Lancaster.
Our purposes are educational and professional:
- Advance the art and science of plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Support continuing education among ABPS diplomates
- Strengthen ethical and clinical standards in our community
- Provide a trusted network for consultation and collaboration

This blog is a member-authored space. Posts may include meeting recaps, journal discussion, clinical perspectives, and Society news. It is not a substitute for peer-reviewed literature, and it is not advertising. It is a record of how we teach and learn together.
